Pipette calibration is the process of verifying and adjusting a pipette so that the volume it dispenses matches the volume it is set to deliver, within a defined tolerance. Of the current laboratory listings, 94 percent are used. Accuracy drifts with wear on the seals and the piston, which is why calibration is scheduled rather than done once, and why a used unit's service history matters as much as its model.
