Product description

Multimode microplate reader with absorbance, fluorescence, luminescence, TRF, incubation, and shaking functions.

Agilent BioTek Cytation 5 CYT5MF is a multimode microplate reader configured for absorbance, fluorescence intensity, luminescence, and time-resolved fluorescence measurements. This Cytation 5 is a multimode-only configuration without imaging and uses both filter-based and monochromator-based optical pathways for flexible assay development.

  • Detection modes: UV–Vis absorbance, fluorescence intensity, luminescence, and time-resolved fluorescence (TRF)
  • Optical system: Quad monochromators with top and bottom fluorescence-intensity paths and a secondary TRF path
  • Fluorescence intensity range: 250–700 nm
  • Fluorescence bandwidth: Variable from 9–50 nm in 1 nm increments
  • Fluorescence dynamic range: 7 decades
  • Reading speed: 96 wells in 11 s; 384 wells in 22 s
  • Absorbance range: 230–999 nm
  • Absorbance bandwidth: 4 nm from 230–285 nm; 8 nm above 285 nm
  • Absorbance dynamic range: 0–4.0 OD
  • Absorbance resolution: 0.0001
  • Wavelength accuracy: ±2 nm
  • Wavelength repeatability: ±0.2 nm
  • Luminescence range: 300–700 nm
  • Luminescence dynamic range: >6 decades
  • Incubation: Four-zone incubation up to 65 °C with condensation control
  • Temperature uniformity: ±0.2 °C at 37 °C
  • Plate compatibility: 6–384-well microplates, with support for Take3 microvolume plates
  • Shaking: Linear, orbital, and double-orbital modes
  • Dimensions: 16.4 in W × 17.5 in H × 20.2 in D
  • Weight: 80 lb (36.3 kg)

The included configuration contains a custom filter cube with the following positions:

  • Position 1: Excitation 485/20 nm, dichroic mirror 510 nm, emission 530/25 nm
  • Position 2: Excitation 440/30 nm, dichroic mirror 510 nm, emission 530/25 nm

The system includes a power supply, communication cables, desktop computer, monitor, mouse, keyboard, and Gen5 software. It is suitable for ELISA, protein and DNA quantification, fluorescence intensity assays, ATP and reporter-gene luminescence assays, cell viability and cytotoxicity testing, enzyme activity measurements, kinetic plate assays, and multiplex biomarker detection. These capabilities support applications in biotechnology, molecular biology, cell-based research, drug discovery, and biopharmaceutical development.

Why Questpair exists

Lab equipment markets are fragmented. Buyers spend weeks calling distributors, comparing quotes, and verifying supplier reliability. Sellers struggle to reach global research labs.

We built Questpair to fix this. Every supplier on the platform is verified before listing. Every quote you receive comes from a real, vetted seller. AI prepares your case in minutes, then a real specialist takes over.

We're an independent team based in The Netherlands, working with research labs and procurement teams across Europe and worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

How long does laboratory equipment typically last?

With a service contract, ten to fifteen years is normal for most benchtop instruments. Detectors and pumps are the parts that wear first.

Can I get service for older equipment?

Yes. Every verified supplier states which service partners cover the instrument, and we list that alongside the offer.

Where can I buy parts?

Ask a scientist through the request button. Parts are often available even when the instrument itself is discontinued.

What is the typical lead time for refurbished equipment?

Two to six weeks, depending on refurbishment scope and whether calibration is included.

Does laboratory equipment ship internationally?

We ship to 38 countries. Crating and customs handling are quoted with the instrument.
