Product description

Multi-mode microplate reader with fluorescence, luminescence, absorbance, temperature control, and kinetic capabilities.

The FLUOstar OPTIMA is a versatile, filter-based microplate reader designed to perform fluorescence intensity, time-resolved fluorescence, luminescence, and absorbance measurements. This instrument is well-suited for a wide range of applications in cell biology, molecular biology, and immunology.

Key features include:

  • Multi-mode detection: Supports fluorescence intensity (including FRET), time-resolved fluorescence (including DELFIA®), luminescence (flash and glow), and UV/Vis absorbance with path length correction.
  • High sensitivity: Capable of detecting fluorescence intensities as low as 1 fmol/well of fluorescein.
  • Flexible plate formats: Compatible with microplates ranging from 6 to 384 wells, and up to 1536 wells for fluorescence intensity measurements.
  • Advanced optics: Equipped with 16-position excitation and emission filter wheels, allowing rapid switching for ratiometric assays.
  • Environmental control: Features temperature control up to 45°C and linear and orbital shaking capabilities, facilitating optimal assay conditions.
  • Kinetic measurements: Onboard "smart" injectors enable real-time kinetic monitoring and versatile kinetic software features for endpoint, long-term, and fast kinetic measurements.

The FLUOstar OPTIMA is widely utilized in academic research laboratories, biotechnology companies, and pharmaceutical industries for applications such as enzyme kinetics, cell-based assays, and high-throughput screening. Introduced in the early 2000s, this model was discontinued in 2013 and succeeded by the FLUOstar Omega.

BMG LABTECH, established in 1990, is renowned for its innovation and quality in microplate reader technology, providing reliable and robust instruments that support diverse scientific research needs.

Why Questpair exists

Lab equipment markets are fragmented. Buyers spend weeks calling distributors, comparing quotes, and verifying supplier reliability. Sellers struggle to reach global research labs.

We built Questpair to fix this. Every supplier on the platform is verified before listing. Every quote you receive comes from a real, vetted seller. AI prepares your case in minutes, then a real specialist takes over.

We're an independent team based in The Netherlands, working with research labs and procurement teams across Europe and worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

How long does laboratory equipment typically last?

With a service contract, ten to fifteen years is normal for most benchtop instruments. Detectors and pumps are the parts that wear first.

Can I get service for older equipment?

Often, yes. Verified suppliers frequently work with service partners converting the instrument. If applicable, we can list servicing options alongside the offer.

Where can I buy parts?

Ask a scientist through the request button. Parts are often available even when the instrument itself is discontinued.

What is the typical lead time for refurbished equipment?

Two to six weeks, depending on refurbishment scope and whether calibration is included.

Does laboratory equipment ship internationally?

We ship to 38 countries. Crating and customs handling are quoted with the instrument.
