The ÄKTAxpress FPLC System by Amersham Biosciences is a sophisticated liquid chromatography system optimized for automated, multistep purification of His-tagged and GST-tagged recombinant proteins. Capable of handling both clarified and crude cell lysates, it supports protocols with up to four chromatography steps, such as affinity chromatography, desalting, ion exchange, and gel filtration. Additionally, it accommodates purification of both low and high-expression proteins, including protocols for double-tagged proteins and on-column/off-line tag cleavage. The system allows automatic purification of up to four samples in a single run with a capacity of up to 50 mg of protein per sample. Multiple systems (up to twelve) can be managed simultaneously through one computer, enhancing experimental throughput.
