Product description

Smart ITR accessory with 10 mm germanium plate for 2–4 µL FT-IR sample measurements.

The Thermo Scientific 222-289600 Smart ITR is an internal reflection accessory for compatible Thermo Nicolet FT-IR spectrometers. It uses an integrated germanium (Ge) sample plate for direct measurement of solids, powders, viscous liquids, and pastes through internal reflection in the mid-infrared range.

The Smart ITR is designed for compact, low-volume FT-IR analysis. A sample volume of only 2–4 µL is sufficient, making it suitable for routine identification and qualitative analysis of polymer films, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), cosmetic powders, food waxes, and related materials.

Technical specifications

  • Accessory type: Smart ITR internal reflection accessory
  • Sample interface: Germanium plate for solid or pasty samples
  • Compatible sample types: Solids, powders, viscous liquids, and pastes
  • Sample volume: 2–4 µL
  • Spectral range: Typically 4000–650 cm⁻¹
  • Ge crystal diameter: Approximately 10 mm
  • ITR contacts: L-shaped Ge disk with defined reflection planes
  • Module dimensions: Approximately 130 × 70 × 50 mm
  • Weight: Approximately 400 g
  • Construction: Ge crystal with anodized aluminum housing
  • Connection: Plug interface to the FT-IR spectrometer beam path
  • Compatibility: Thermo Nicolet Nexus, iS, and FTIR-i series spectrometers

The germanium plate provides stable mid-infrared measurements with minimal sample preparation and reduced risk of scratching or sample loss. This FT-IR sampling accessory is relevant to polymer characterization, pharmaceutical analysis, materials research, molecular diagnostics workflows, and routine quality control.

The unit is in very good used condition and has been cleaned and checked.

Why Questpair exists

Lab equipment markets are fragmented. Buyers spend weeks calling distributors, comparing quotes, and verifying supplier reliability. Sellers struggle to reach global research labs.

We built Questpair to fix this. Every supplier on the platform is verified before listing. Every quote you receive comes from a real, vetted seller. AI prepares your case in minutes, then a real specialist takes over.

We're an independent team based in The Netherlands, working with research labs and procurement teams across Europe and worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

How long does laboratory equipment typically last?

With a service contract, ten to fifteen years is normal for most benchtop instruments. Detectors and pumps are the parts that wear first.

Can I get service for older equipment?

Yes. Every verified supplier states which service partners cover the instrument, and we list that alongside the offer.

Where can I buy parts?

Ask a scientist through the request button. Parts are often available even when the instrument itself is discontinued.

What is the typical lead time for refurbished equipment?

Two to six weeks, depending on refurbishment scope and whether calibration is included.

Does laboratory equipment ship internationally?

We ship to 38 countries. Crating and customs handling are quoted with the instrument.
