New Brunswick Scientific is an American life science and biotechnology laboratory equipment manufacturer, founded in 1946 when brothers Sigmund and David Freedman opened a machine shop called New Brunswick Tool and Die in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The company pivoted to scientific equipment after building agitators for Rutgers University researchers and incorporated under its present name in 1958. It became known for incubating shakers, bioreactors and fermentors, CO2 incubators and ultra-low temperature freezers, and was acquired by Eppendorf AG in 2007.
