Product description

Eppendorf Mastercycler gradient 5331 thermal cycler for PCR with universal thermoblock, 96 well formats and a 20 °C gradient.

The Eppendorf Mastercycler gradient 5331 thermal cycler is a PCR system for molecular biology and biochemical applications.

The universal thermoblock accommodates one 96 well PCR plate, 96 0.2 mL PCR tubes or 77 0.5 mL thin-walled PCR tubes without exchanging the block. The gradient function varies the temperature across the block to support PCR experiment optimization.

The used unit is not in good operational state. The message “memory corrupted” appears when the instrument is switched on.

Eppendorf Mastercycler gradient 5331

The Eppendorf Mastercycler gradient 5331 is a conventional thermal cycler for PCR and molecular biology applications. Its universal thermoblock supports the following sample formats:

  • One 96 well PCR plate
  • 96 0.2 mL PCR tubes
  • 77 0.5 mL thin-walled PCR tubes

Temperature control

  • Temperature range: 4 to 99 °C
  • Heating rate: 3 °C/s
  • Cooling rate: 2 °C/s
  • Temperature uniformity at 95 °C: ±1.0 °C
  • Temperature uniformity from 20 to 72 °C: ±0.6 °C
  • Control accuracy: ±0.2 °C
  • Maximum number of cycles: 99
  • Gradient range: up to 20 °C across the block

The Peltier temperature control system supports rapid temperature changes. Operating conditions are 15 to 35 °C with 70% relative humidity.

Electrical and physical specifications

  • Electrical requirements: 230 V, 50 to 60 Hz, 500 W, 2.6 A
  • Dimensions, W x D x H: 260 x 410 x 270 mm
  • Weight: 12.4 kg

The unit is used and shows the message “memory corrupted” at startup. It is not in good operational state.

What these specifications mean

The universal thermoblock supports both 96 well plates and PCR tubes. This allows the same block to accommodate different sample formats without a block exchange.

The gradient function varies temperatures across the block by up to 20 °C and can be programmed at each temperature step. This supports testing different PCR temperatures within one run during assay optimization.

Why Questpair exists

Lab equipment markets are fragmented. Buyers spend weeks calling distributors, comparing quotes, and verifying supplier reliability. Sellers struggle to reach global research labs.

We built Questpair to fix this. Every supplier on the platform is verified before listing. Every quote you receive comes from a real, vetted seller. AI prepares your case in minutes, then a real specialist takes over.

We're an independent team based in The Netherlands, working with research labs and procurement teams across Europe and worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

How long does laboratory equipment typically last?

With a service contract, ten to fifteen years is normal for most benchtop instruments. Detectors and pumps are the parts that wear first.

Can I get service for older equipment?

Often, yes. Verified suppliers frequently work with service partners converting the instrument. If applicable, we can list servicing options alongside the offer.

Where can I buy parts?

Ask a scientist through the request button. Parts are often available even when the instrument itself is discontinued.

What is the typical lead time for refurbished equipment?

Two to six weeks, depending on refurbishment scope and whether calibration is included.

Does laboratory equipment ship internationally?

We ship to 38 countries. Crating and customs handling are quoted with the instrument.
