Product description

Electronic flow switch using calorimetric principle to monitor air/gas flow with relay output and LED indicator.

The Kobold KAL-L electronic flow switch is designed for monitoring air and gas flow with minimal pressure loss. It operates using the *calorimetric principle* wherein a sensor heated slightly above the medium temperature cools down proportionally to flow velocity.

  • Operation principle:
  • A heated sensor transfers heat to the flowing medium, causing cooling.
  • A second sensor measures medium temperature.
  • Electronics compare resistances via a bridge circuit, actuating an output relay if flow drops below preset thresholds.
  • Technical specifications:
  • Voltage supply: 24 V AC/DC
  • Maximum switching current: 4 A
  • Ambient temperature range: -10 °C to +60 °C
  • Medium temperature range: -10 °C to +120 °C
  • Maximum operating pressure: 8 bar
  • Warm-up time: max. 30 seconds
  • Switching flow velocity range: 1 to 20 m/s (at 20 °C, 1 bar)
  • Switching accuracy: ±10% of reading
  • Repeatability: ±1% of reading
  • Response time: adjustable from 1 to 60 seconds
  • Flow rate indication: 8-digit LED bar graph display
  • Dimensions (W x D x H): 80 x 180 x 100 mm

The device provides reliable flow monitoring with precise switching capabilities suitable for industrial air and gas applications.

Why Questpair exists

Lab equipment markets are fragmented. Buyers spend weeks calling distributors, comparing quotes, and verifying supplier reliability. Sellers struggle to reach global research labs.

We built Questpair to fix this. Every supplier on the platform is verified before listing. Every quote you receive comes from a real, vetted seller. AI prepares your case in minutes, then a real specialist takes over.

We're an independent team based in The Netherlands, working with research labs and procurement teams across Europe and worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

How long does laboratory equipment typically last?

With a service contract, ten to fifteen years is normal for most benchtop instruments. Detectors and pumps are the parts that wear first.

Can I get service for older equipment?

Often, yes. Verified suppliers frequently work with service partners converting the instrument. If applicable, we can list servicing options alongside the offer.

Where can I buy parts?

Ask a scientist through the request button. Parts are often available even when the instrument itself is discontinued.

What is the typical lead time for refurbished equipment?

Two to six weeks, depending on refurbishment scope and whether calibration is included.

Does laboratory equipment ship internationally?

We ship to 38 countries. Crating and customs handling are quoted with the instrument.
