Product description

Eppendorf BioFlo 120 controller with 5 L glass autoclavable vessel for microbial fermentation and cell culture.

The Eppendorf BioFlo 120 Bioprocess Control System is a compact benchtop controller for microbial fermentation, cell culture, protein expression, vaccine production, media optimization, and small-scale biomanufacturing. This configuration includes a 5 L glass autoclavable vessel with a working-volume range of 2.0–5.6 L.

Control and Connectivity

  • Integrated touchscreen control for pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), temperature, agitation, gas mixing, and level monitoring
  • Supports direct-drive or magnetic-drive vessel connections
  • Accepts PT100 temperature probes
  • Two digital sensor inputs for pH, DO, redox, or CO2 sensors
  • One level-sensor input
  • Optional advanced model configuration with three analog input/output connections
  • Supports an exhaust condenser and heater blanket

Gas Flow and Pumping

  • One installed thermal mass flow controller (TMFC)
  • Four-gas mixing for air, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide
  • Gas supply pressure up to 10 psig (0.69 barg) with glass or autoclavable vessels
  • Gas supply pressure up to 6 psig (0.44 barg) with BioBlu single-use vessels
  • Sparge flow range: 0.04–20 SLPM
  • Additional available TMFC ranges: 0.002–1 SLPM and 0.01–5 SLPM
  • Three installed peristaltic pumps with Watson-Marlow 114DV heads
  • Pump speed: 30 rpm fixed speed, 0–100% duty cycle

Vessel Compatibility

The BioFlo 120 supports glass/autoclavable vessels with nominal volumes of 1.0 L, 2.0 L, 5.0 L, and 10 L, as well as Eppendorf BioBLU single-use vessels. The included configuration uses a 5 L glass autoclavable vessel.

Available vessel configurations may include water-jacketed or heat-blanketed designs, direct-drive or magnetic-drive agitation, Rushton, pitched-blade, marine, or spin-filter impellers, and optional baffles, sparge attachments, cooling loops, level sensors, foam sensors, redox sensors, CO2 sensors, and exhaust condensers.

Technical Specifications

  • Power requirement: 100–120/208–240 VAC
  • Dimensions (W × D × H): 24.7 × 55.9 × 62.9 cm
  • Dimensions (W × D × H): 9.7 × 22 × 24.8 in
  • Net weight: 14.8 kg (32.7 lb)
  • Autoclavable vessel operating range: 8°C above coolant to 40°C, or 45°C for 10 L vessels, depending on vessel type
  • Liquid-cooled exhaust condenser pressure: 0.5 psig (0.035 barg)

The BioFlo 120 is suitable for biotechnology workflows including fermentation development, cell-line development, recombinant protein expression, molecular biology research, and small-scale bioprocessing. Its integrated sensor inputs, automated gas control, peristaltic pumping, and touchscreen operation support reproducible cultivation and biomanufacturing processes.

Why Questpair exists

Lab equipment markets are fragmented. Buyers spend weeks calling distributors, comparing quotes, and verifying supplier reliability. Sellers struggle to reach global research labs.

We built Questpair to fix this. Every supplier on the platform is verified before listing. Every quote you receive comes from a real, vetted seller. AI prepares your case in minutes, then a real specialist takes over.

We're an independent team based in The Netherlands, working with research labs and procurement teams across Europe and worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

How long does laboratory equipment typically last?

With a service contract, ten to fifteen years is normal for most benchtop instruments. Detectors and pumps are the parts that wear first.

Can I get service for older equipment?

Yes. Every verified supplier states which service partners cover the instrument, and we list that alongside the offer.

Where can I buy parts?

Ask a scientist through the request button. Parts are often available even when the instrument itself is discontinued.

What is the typical lead time for refurbished equipment?

Two to six weeks, depending on refurbishment scope and whether calibration is included.

Does laboratory equipment ship internationally?

We ship to 38 countries. Crating and customs handling are quoted with the instrument.
