Incubators

Incubators are devices that maintain a temperature and other conditions to grow cell cultures or microbiological cultures. As such, they are extensively used in microbiology and molecular biology and biochemistry labs. Many incubators also control humidity and are incorporated with a gentle shaking function to homogenise samples during culturing. The size depends on the application, required volumes, and desired numb (more)er of samples that needs to fit simultaneously. Some incubators are so small that they easily fit on a laboratory bench, while others are huge and can hold an enormous number of flasks or vials.

With precise temperature and CO₂ control, Benchmark’s SureTherm™ Incubators provide the perfect environment for your cultures. All SureTherm™ Incubators feature a proprietary heat distribution system that combines six sided heating with a low speed internal fan. Air is circulated uniformly throughout the chamber without air exchange from the external environment. This results in a controlled, protected environment with minimal temperature fluctuations (within 0.1°C). These are the first and only incubators equipped with our (patent pending) IncuView™ LCI (Live Cell Imaging) technology for viewing cells in “real time”. An internal microscope and large, external display allow cells to be viewed without removal from the incubator, eliminating the inherent temperature fluctuations and risk of contamination. Benchmark MyTemp Mini CO2 Digital Incubator At only 13 inches wide, the myTemp Mini CO2 is the small (more)est and most economical incubator for applications requiring CO2 gas control. Its small footprint makes the incubator ideal for use inside of biological safety cabinets, isolating sensitive cultures or for any laboratory simply trying to conserve bench space. With a thick layer of high efficiency insulation surrounding the chamber, the incubator is also ideal for transportation of cells. Once power has been disconnected, the incubator maintains temperature levels within 10% of the set parameter for up to 1 hour. In addition each model includes a 12V vehicle power adapter for operating the instrument in a car, boat, etc. Both temperature and CO2 percentage are digitally adjustable and displayed in real time on the large LED control panel. This panel also features a “Cal” function, for easy in-lab calibration of the temperature or CO2. In addition, humidity (up to 80%) can be added to the chamber by inserting the included (stainless steel) humidity reservoir. The CO2 level is constantly monitored using dual beam infrared sensing technology. In the event of a drop in CO2, audible and visual alarms are triggered, notifying the user of the error. Despite its small size, the incubator features a relatively large 20L chamber with the capacity for flasks and bottles up to 2 liters. Two removable, stainless-steel shelves are included.
