Particle size analysers

Measuring the particle size is important in many industries making chemicals, food, agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, and other products. There are different techniques to determine particle sizes. Some instruments use microscopy images to measure the size of individual particles and calculate a distribution. The advantage of using images is that it also yield visual information about the type and shape of part (more)icles. For micron-sized particles, the particle size can also be deduced from the mean-squared displacements due to Brownian motion or from their sedimentation profile. For rapid analysis of suspensions in industry, many instruments use dynamic or static light-scattering.
