Why QuestPair?

A new way

Scientific equipment often requires some level of customisation. We enable experts simply to contact you or visit your website so you can focus more on the things you do best.

Save time & money

Having different pieces of science equipment in one place enables experts to compare and explore better and faster.

QP Analytics

Tracking the use of scientific equipment with QP analytics helps to understand how instruments are used and in which context.

Global & high quality

Smaller and larger suppliers and organisations building instruments are welcome to list their items on QuestPair.

Easy to use

Our user interface is designed to browse items easily and intuitively and filter based on your needs and research interests.

Circularity

Intelligently re-using scientific equipment allows for a better way to provide organisations with the tools they need to do their research and development.

Fundamental research

Research programmes in universities and organisations often employs costly state-of-the-art scientific equipment. Sometimes, commercial of-the-shelf instruments are suitable for straightforward experiments such as spectrometers to measure the absorption spectrum. Other times  customisation is desired, for example to combine multiple setups such as an optical tweezers or a rheometer together with a confocal microscope. In extreme cases devices are even built entirely from scratch or from a combination of existing components. QuestPair gives access to a large variety of fully functional equipment items as well as the
necessary parts for customising or constructing new equipment.

Industrial applications

Analytical instruments are vital to monitor processes in a variety of industries. Measurement data is used to track values on important variables, e.g. health and safety parameters for ingredients or food industry or the physicochemical properties of solutions and dispersions in chemical factories. Production plants use mixers, heaters, chillers, reactors, filters and a wide variety of sensors and electronic devices and control circuits connected and operated with software and smart algorithms using data stored in the cloud. QuestPair combines the assortment of different high-quality manufacturers to provide industries with tailor-made solutions.

Medical & Health care

Healthcare makes up a large part of scientific equipment and diagnostic instruments that are used to study the human body and monitor its functioning. These can range from oxygen saturation measurement devices to heart rhythm monitors and MRI and CAT scanners that costs millions of euros. Particularly academic hospitals often have an extraordinary amount of novel biomedical laboratory equipment that is replenished frequently, driven by a constant flux of new developments in this field. QuestPair makes it easier to navigate and directly contact suppliers to select suitable suitable parts as well as out-of-the box ready devices.

Which equipment is on QuestPair?

We welcome suppliers offering a wide range of scientific equipment such as microscopes, rheometers, spectrometers analytical instruments, laboratory devices, scales, coolers, heaters, coaters, surface analysis, stirrers, incubators, bioreactors, thermostats, microfluidics mixers or other laboratory and analysis equipment that is suited for laboratories and companies in research and production settings.

QuestPair laudes innovation and is enthousiastic about suppliers offering specialised custom-based instruments that can be used in engineering or laboratory settings.

We are also passiatione about the possibility of re-using pieces of science equipment that are no longer actively used by its owners, whether by re-selling those or offering them for rent.

Second-hand equipment

As companies and organisations are transitioning to more sustainable business models, the re-use of second-hand equipment becomes more commonplace. This is particularly true for universities and companies that own equipment that is rarely or no longer used on-site, either because of a shift in focus of research area or because older instruments are being replaced with newer models. From confocal microscopes and spectrometers to balances and light scattering setups, these are instruments that startups or less wealthy organisations can be desperate to use. QuestPair offers a space where these items can be on display so that they can be more easily found. We actively engage with institutions and organisations around the world to list new items, and are developing advanced analytics algorithms to inventorise and contextualise the use and exchange of scientific equipment.

Consumables

Unfortunately, not all scientific equipment can be re-sold when it is no longer used. Consumables such as lates gloves, pipette tips often make up a large part of the laboratory assortment. Also for these items there is plenty of choice, and it can be tricky to compare the offerings and quality of different suppliers. QuestPair attempts to change this by offering suppliers the opportunity to list their items and present their unique selling points.

Innovative instruments

As startups are often budget-constrained, the tools and materials they decide to buy has to be carefully selected. On the supply side, startups which are creating new scientific equipment are allocating their funds to development and therefore often have a limited marketing budget. QuestPair provides a room for companies with technological excellence to thrive and display their instruments and innovations directly to experts.

Expanding horizons

Organisations often have procedures in place to order expensive pieces of scientific equipment. This can occur through tenders, e.g. by requesting a number of quotes from different suppliers for instruments of a certain type. We would like to make such procedures easier so that as we believe this increases the competitive landscape and help experts to make better and more informed choices. At the same time, we would like to make it more accesible for suppliers to make their offerings and increase their exposure. In particular for smaller companies this can be tricky as they are less well known within scientific communities and their scientific equipment is can be more difficult to find as it typically won't appear on top of search results. We would like to involve the business and research communities to make the best products possible. If you have comments or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact us using the form below.
