Illumination is provided by a 6v/30w Halogen lamp, with adjustable field and aperture diaphragms enabling users to easily create homogeneous and repeatable illumination. Together, these increase image quality by reducing stray light and increasing contrast. The field diaphragm also plays a key role in Conoscopic observation.The BA310POL contains a pre-centered stage, 160mm in diameter, with a continuous 360 degree scale in 1 degree increments. This provides sample orientation and enables semi-quantitative measurements. Furthermore, high precision ball bearings ensure smooth rotation, as well as precise positioning of the test sample. The stage also contains a chemical resistant surface, hard coated to withstand abrasion. Users will find a fully rotatable polarizer with 90 degree click stops, contained in a sub stage condenser carrier. The unit’s intermediate tube also contains several items – a Bertrand lens, compensator slot, and an analyzer. The analyzer is fully rotatable, with a scale in 1 degree increments, and fixing screw to help lock the best positions. The Bertrand lens is both focusable and centerable, and the DIN compliant compensator slot can be used with any of Motic’s optional compensators.
