The Microm 500 OM Cryostat Refrigerated Microtome is a high-performance, pre-owned system engineered for precision in a range of temperatures down to -40°C. Standout features include its upright, open-top design that promotes ergonomic operation whether you are seated or standing.
Chamber cooling is robust, with capabilities to decrease from ambient temperatures of 20°C down to a crisp -40°C, although please note that specimen cooling is not enabled in this model.
The microtome offers a versatile section thickness range from 0.5 to 90 µm, with excellent resolution increments:
- 0.5 – 2 µm: 0.5 µm
- 2 – 10 µm: 1 µm
- 10 – 20 µm: 2 µm
- 20 – 50 µm: 5 µm
- 50 – 90 µm: 10 µm
Trimming capabilities range from 5 to 300 µm, with resolution settings as follows:
- 5 – 10 µm: 5 µm
- 10 – 100 µm: 10 µm
- 100 – 300 µm: 100 µm
For ease of sample handling, the system includes a 40 µm specimen retraction during return travel, a horizontal feed range of 28 mm, and a vertical specimen stroke of 64 mm. The coarse feed operates at a speed of 800 µm/s.
