New Brunswick FibraStage Cell Culture System

The FibraStage system offers an affordable, efficient and easily disposable solution for cell culture processing. It is crafted to produce proteins, viruses, or cell mass from both, suspension and anchorage-dependent cultures. This system utilizes pre-filled, disposable 500mL bottles that contain FibraCel disks, an exclusive solid-support matrix constructed for optimal cell growth. The FibraCel environment is structured to provide a remarkably high surface area (100 cm²) for cell growth, paralleling the capacity of multiple T-flasks and roller bottles while maintaining a low-shear surrounding.

Each FibraStage system can accommodate up to four such bottles which in sum generates a yield of an estimated 2 x 10¹⁰ cells. The task of oxygenation and media mixing is conveniently achieved by placing the bottles onto the FibraStage device. This action cascades a compression on bellows located at the base of each bottle, pushing the media through the disk bed.

Throughout the entire operating process, cells remain securely lodged in the disk bed making media replacement and product recovery more simple. An added advantage of this system is the elimination of common complications such as autoclaving, cleaning, steep learning curves, expensive initiation. The FibraStage system prevents cross-contamination between batches and functions seamlessly with a standard CO₂ incubator. This makes it a highly efficient choice for research-oriented settings.
