This offering is a genuine General Electric CF6-6D1A jet engine, formerly utilized in a DC10 aircraft, and is now being sold on behalf of a prominent UK university's engineering and aerospace department. Originally priced at approximately 1 million USD, the engine was once part of MyTravel Aircraft Engineering before being retired in 2004, coinciding with the retirement of the DC10 fleet and transition to Airbus aircraft.

Subsequently, it was transferred to the university where it served as an educational tool for engineering students. This full-sized jet engine, which has logged about 40 million miles over two decades, presents an extremely rare acquisition opportunity. Prior to storage, the engine was operational; however, no warranties for current performance are offered.

The engine is primarily intended for display or museum purposes.
