The Thermo NanoDrop One Microvolume UV-Vis Spectrophotometer offers a broad spectral range of 190 to 850 nm, providing versatility for analyzing a wide array of sample types. It is ideal for applications such as peptide measurements at 205 nm, DNA and RNA at 260 nm, purified proteins at 280 nm, toxicology assays and industrial dyes at 490 nm, and gold nanoparticles at 520 nm. Its capacity to support colorimetric protein assays is evident with BCA at 562 nm, Bradford at 595 nm, Modified Lowry at 650 nm, and Pierce 660 at 660 nm. The system also accommodates optical density measurements at 600 nm.
Harnessing a xenon flash as its light source, this spectrophotometer ensures a wavelength accuracy of ±1 nm and features a spectral bandwidth of ≤1.8 nm (FWHM at Hg 254 nm). The instrument's auto-ranging pathlength varies from 0.030 to 1.0 mm, allowing for flexible sample handling. Photometric accuracy is maintained at 3% at 0.97 A, 302 nm, with a photometric range extending from 0 to 550 A. Repeatability is typically 0.002 A at a 1.0 mm path or 1% CV, based on the standard deviation of ten individual measurements at 0.97 A. Minimum sample volume requirements are as low as 1 μL, and measurements are efficiently completed in just 8 seconds.
Detection capabilities include a range for dsDNA from 2.0 ng/μL and BSA (IgG) at 0.06 (0.03) mg/mL, driven by a 2048-element CMOS Linear Image Sensor. The device also features a 7-inch High Definition Color Display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels for clear visualization.
This spectrophotometer is suitable for extensive applications: nucleic acid quantification (A260, A260/A280, A260/A230), labeled nucleic acids, protein analysis at A280 and A205, protein assays (Pierce 660, Bradford, BCA, Lowry), labeled proteins, optical density at 600 nm (OD600), kinetic studies, and general UV-Vis measurements with custom method capabilities.
With compact dimensions of 200 x 254 x 323 mm and a weight of 3.6 kg, this second-hand system is designed for efficient use in research settings, ensuring precise and reliable performance for various analytical needs.
