The Hamamatsu ImagEM X2 (C9100-24B) is a highly versatile, scientifically optimized EM CCD camera designed for ultra-low light imaging with:
- Sensor: Electron Multiplying Back-Thinned Frame Transfer CCD, 1024×1024 pixels, 13 µm pixel size, 13.3 mm effective area
- Speed: Up to 18.5 frames/s full frame (up to 314 frames/s sub-array and binning)
- EM Gain: Typical range 1× to 1200× for signal amplification
- Readout Noise: As low as 1 electron rms at maximum EM gain (1200×)
- Full Well Capacity: EM readout max 800,000 electrons (typical 400,000), Normal CCD readout 50,000 electrons
- Cooling: Hermetic vacuum-sealed air/water-cooled head with forced-air cooling down to -65 °C and water cooling down to -80 °C; temperature stability ±0.01 °C
- Dark Current: Ultra-low, down to 0.001 electron/pixel/s at -80 °C (water cooled)
- Exposure Times: Internally synchronized and externally triggered from microseconds to hours
