The Terumo Quantum Cell Expansion System is a sophisticated, automated platform designed for the cultivation of both adherent and suspension cells within a meticulously controlled environment. This system adheres to the "functionally closed" standard—a term prevalent in the FDA-regulated blood and component industry—which describes systems that maintain closure at manufacture, except for tubing equipped with pre-connected sterile barrier filters on spike and port connections and openings permitting only outward flow. In alignment with these criteria, the Quantum system establishes a sterile barrier between the Cell Expansion Set and external interfaces. The system is engineered to facilitate the addition of media, loading of cells, harvesting, and sampling without necessitating exposure of the internal environment.

Included within the Quantum system is a state-of-the-art incubator coupled with a comprehensive cell expansion set. This set comprises a hollow-fiber bioreactor, an intracapillary (IC) circulation loop, an extracapillary (EC) circulation loop, associated bags, and integral components essential for effective cell proliferation processes. Additionally, the system is equipped with an intuitive touch screen interface, streamlining user interaction and control.

This pre-owned system has been diligently maintained under a comprehensive maintenance contract with Terumo, ensuring its reliability and performance. The warranty coverage is contingent upon the terms of the maintenance contract.
