The photometer provides instant, ready-to-use access to 32 routine methods, of which 9 methods can be freely programmed: i) DNA, RNA and protein concentration measurement (UV and colorimetric); ii) Incorporation rate of fluorescent molecules (550 nm/650 nm), e. g., for microarray experiments; iii) Enzymatic assays (e.g., peroxidase, alkaline phosphatase, β-galactosidase); and, iv) Optical density of the cells (OD 600). All measurements and calculations of results are done with the click of a button and all data related to the analysis results can be seen at a glance. This ensures safe, error-free operation and reliable results. In addition to being lightweight, the photometer is small but extremely durable thanks to its sturdy metal casing, which makes it easy to transport and clean. The BioPhotometer plus is designed for use with cuvettes such as the Eppendorf UVette®, but is also optimized for small volume measurements using microliter cells such as the Hellma® TrayCell.

Its fields of application include: Quantification of nucleic acids (dsDNA, ssDNA, RNA, Oligo); Protein quantification (280 nm, Bradford, Lowry, BCA); Cell density measurement (OD600); Absorption of fluorescent dyes (550/650 dyes, e.g. Cy-3, Cy-5); Enzymatic assays: calculation-free determination of endpoints (e.g., enzyme activity or cellular bioassays) and direct absorbance measurements at individual wavelengths (230 nm, 260 nm, 280 nm, nm).
