Abaxis Piccolo Xpress Chemistry Analyzer

The Abaxis Piccolo Xpress Chemistry Analyzer is a compact yet highly accurate and reliable tool designed to deliver real-time blood chemistry diagnostics in just minutes. This fully-automated advanced instrument is ideal for a wide range of clinical chemistry applications, operating efficiently in both inpatient and outpatient settings such as urgent care clinics, oncology clinics, physician’s office laboratories, pediatric offices, and more.

With a minimal sample size requirement of just 0.1cc (100 µl), it accommodates various sample types including lithium heparin, whole blood, serum, or plasma. The Piccolo Xpress offers test results in approximately 12 minutes and features a built-in intelligent Quality Control (iQC) system for enhanced accuracy.

For seamless operation, communication is facilitated through bi-directional input/output, while the device also supports data management via USB connectivity. The built-in thermal printer uses adhesive-backed paper, and external Printer/LIS/EMR integration is possible. Memory capacity is robust, storing up to 5000 patient and quality control results.

The analyzer’s hardware includes a Xenon arc stroboscopic lamp and a beam-splitter/detector which reads nine wavelengths, ensuring precise signal processing through a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter. Supported by dual microprocessors, the analyzer operates continuously with a consistent heater maintaining the disc at a stable 37°C ± 1°C during analyses. Consumables consist of 8-cm diameter, self-contained plastic chemistry reagent discs, each including the necessary reagents for comprehensive test panels on single samples.
