The LMS Cooled Laboratory Incubator Model 305 was sourced from a university laboratory as surplus equipment. While the incubator is in fair cosmetic condition, it has some visible rust marks and scratches on the door, as well as additional scratches and dents on the exterior. The red indicator light is loose, and there is some mould along the seal. It should be noted that there were reported issues when setting the temperature, particularly with the refrigeration setting, which was somewhat erratic but functional.
The internal dimensions of the unit are 36 cm deep by 46 cm wide by 54 cm high. During testing with a digital thermometer (not included), the incubator's performance was assessed as follows:
- At a set point of -10˚C, the display indicated -6.1˚C, while the thermometer recorded -8.7˚C.
- At 37˚C, the display showed the correct temperature, but the thermometer measured 34.7˚C.
- At 50˚C, the display read 50.2˚C, with the thermometer reading 47.6˚C.
- At 4˚C, the display indicated 7.3˚C, yet the thermometer confirmed a temperature of 4˚C.
Overall, this incubator may require attention to its temperature regulation components for optimal performance, but it remains functional and is suitable for various laboratory applications.
