Introducing the Bruker LC-NMR-MS Interface, a pre-owned system engineered to seamlessly integrate between an HPLC system, an NMR spectroscopy probehead, and a mass spectrometry (MS) unit. Typically installed on the MS table, this interface is positioned directly in front of the MS input connector to optimize functionality.
The BNMI-HP is equipped with three medium pressure syringe pumps (capable of exceeding 60 Bar), a 1:20 splitter, an 8-port valve, three mixing chambers (T-Pieces), and comprehensive control and interface electronics. By utilizing additional solvent from the syringe pumps, the HPLC flow to the MS unit can be modified to enhance peak detection and accelerate the split separation arrival at the MS. This system allows for storage of separations following MS peak detection or UV absorption peak detection for subsequent analysis.
The 1:20 splitter directs approximately 5% of the fluid to the MS, while the remaining 95% is channeled either to the NMR probehead for immediate analysis or to the BPSU36 storage cassette for deferred examination. Within the mixing chamber, the fluid directed to the MS blends with solvent delivered by the syringe pumps, ensuring consistent 'makeup' flow via alternating operation of the two left syringe pumps. The third pump, situated on the right, facilitates the introduction of calibration fluid into the flow path, allowing MS calibration or synchronization at the beginning and conclusion of each measurement cycle.
The 8-port valve plays a crucial role in directing fluid flow, with the BNMI unit controlled through the HyStar software via an Ethernet interface. Commands processed by the HyStar software are interpreted by the BNMI Control Board, which executes the operational adjustments such as initiating pumps, altering flow rates, and manipulating the 8-port valve. In contrast, the splitter operates based on a fixed mechanical function, dividing fluid flow into two paths at a 1:20 ratio. Alternative split ratios can be accommodated upon request, with options such as a 1:100 ratio available for handling samples with higher concentrations.
Ideal for laboratories seeking a streamlined approach to HPLC, NMR, and MS integration, the Bruker LC-NMR-MS Interface offers a versatile and efficient solution for complex sample analysis.
