The plate centrifuge makes the safe and quick spin down of droplets and condensation very easy. Sealed plates are loaded vertically and surface tension keeps samples in place so there is no danger of spilling samples. The centrifuge accepts all plates up to 25 mm high. An optional adaptor is available for centrifuging 48-well PCR plates and 0.2 ml PCR tubes or strips. This Heraeus Biofuge 22R Centrifuge was removed from a university lab where it was surplus to requir (more)ements. The unit powers up but does not run. We removed the front panel to investigate and at least two relays are sparking quite badly. It is in good cosmetic condition with marks from use. It is sold for spares/repairs.

This Beckman J2-21 Floor Standing Centrifuge was removed from a university lab where it was surplus  (more)to requirements. We have replaced the lid and repaired an area of cracked plastic underneath it. It is very stable. There are some cracks around the gas strut area. They do not appear to affect the operation of the unit. The unit is functional and has a comprehensive service history. The centrifuge holds a vacuum well and has been tested at: 5,000rpm10,000rpm15,000rpm20,000rpm (Max). It ran fine at all these speeds but the needle isn't totally in sync with the control knob. It has been tested at the following temperatures: 0ºC our thermometer read -15.8ºC20ºC our thermometer read 21.2ºC It appears to probably have a cooling issue. The compressor etc runs fine. It just appears to drop lower than it is set. When set to higher temps, it takes quite a while to heat up.
