Reason for return - Investigate faults and re-list accordingly: - We received the item with a cracke (more)d glass piece to the photoionization detector. We replaced it with a piece that was provided. - We piped the system with N2 carrier gas and gas lines carrying product to the inlet of the GC. We turned on the switch to the Photoionization detector, under high sensitivity, and can visibly see it turn on. The source is aligned. The detector is aligned.  - We programmed the event on the software to turn the valve of the 10-way valve accordingly to enable the carrier gas to bring the product through the GC. - We introduced acetone via the sample loop (inlet gas) - we saw no peaks. We introduced acetone via injection - we saw no peaks.  - I leaked checked the piping including within the detector - no issues. I checked the point of outlets to make sure flow is continuous too - no issues. - The mechanism of the valve turning - it made a cranky sound, and I am not convinced it is turning the valve.  - There may be two issues. I had figured it was the valve so I tried injecting acetone directly into the line, but we could not see any peak of acetone. (Issues with the detector?) I am not sure if the valve's squeaking/cranky sound implies it is turning but there might be an issue here too. This SRI 8610C GC Gas Chromatograph System was removed from a university lab where it was surplus to requirements. The unit powers up but we were unable to test it further at our facility. The lab did confirm however, that is in good working order. It is in very good cosmetic condition with only very minor marks from use.

Benchmark TC 32 Mini Thermal Cycler w/ Multi-Format Block “Mini sized” doesn’t have to mean a sacrif (more)ice on features and performance. Benchmark’s TC-32 Mini Thermal Cycler retains the advanced programming features, easy to use software and fast, reliable cycling of the larger TC-9639 Thermal Cycler, but with a smaller block and lower price point. Designed for lower throughput needs, the TC-32 Mini Thermal Cycler has a capacity for 32 x 0.2ml tubes. The wells are arranged in a 4 x 8 format, allowing the block to accept strips of 8 as well as individual tubes. The block heats and cools very quickly – at rates as fast as 5C/second. A proprietary algorithm controls block temperature, bringing samples quickly to the target temperature without any over- or under-shoot. Excellent block uniformity ensures consistency sample to sample. Operation of the thermal cycler is controlled from the large, full color, touch screen. Icon driven menus allow users to get running quickly. Programming is extremely simple and includes options for time and temperature increment/decrements, adjustable ramp rates, and an auto pause and restart functions. More than 100 typical programs can be stored in memory and easily recalled. After a run, samples can be held at 4C. An on-screen report is also available at the completion of a run. The heated lid is self adjusting – the spring loaded platen in the lid comes firmly into contact with the tops of the tubes to prevent sample evaporation and condensation. There are no knobs to turn or levers to adjust. The temperature of the heated lid can be changed or the heating function of the lid may be turned off. With a footprint less than that of the average laboratory notebook, the TC-32 Mini Thermal Cycler will fit almost anywhere. Its reduced capacity block and economical price make the TC-32 Mini Thermal Cycler the perfect choice for lower throughput laboratories and educational facilities.
