Ion GeneStudio S5 System (Model A37904) is a semiconductor-based next-generation sequencer designed for targeted sequencing workflows with throughput ranging from 2 to 80 million reads per run using Ion 5 chip series (510–540 chips). The system offers simple cartridge-based reagents to reduce setup complexity and run time, enabling runs to complete within hours. It supports low input DNA or RNA (~1 ng), including challenging sample types such as formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues and cell-free DNA (cfDNA). The system is compatible with Ion Chef for automated library and template preparation, reducing hands-on time to approximately 45 minutes and providing data within 24 hours.

This model shares core technology and fluidics with the Ion GeneStudio S5 Plus and S5 Prime systems, differing primarily in analysis speed.
