Description by the supplier

The BOD Sensor is an exceptionally dependable instrument, designed specifically with the goal of measuring Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) accurately, eliminating the need for mercury. This user-friendly, highly-efficient device connects directly to the sample bottle, while a built-in pressure transducer microprocessor accurately transmits the BOD value to a readily-viewable digital display and simultaneously stores the value in the sensor's memory. This storage function accommodates five measurements at 24-hour intervals, thus facilitating the analysis process throughout the week, including weekends.

Obtaining the BOD value direcly from the digital display is convenient and possible at any time, extending beyond the initial five-day period. The equipment is versatile and adaptable to diverse ranges of measurements including 90ppm, 250ppm, 600ppm, and 999 BOD. For elevated values, measurement can be achieved through a simple sample dilution procedure.

The BOD Sensor System 6 and 10 are inclusive kits designed for simultaneous analysis of 6 and 10 samples respectively. Each package includes items such as a multi-position stirring base, BOD sensors, dark glass bottles, caps for carbon dioxide absorption, and magnetic stir bars.

The stirring base is carefully designed to fulfill the user's needs, ensuring superior stirring quality for best results, while its compact design allows up to 5 bases of 6 positions (30 samples) or 3 bases of 10 positions (30 samples) to fit comfortably inside a VELP incubator (FOC 200E).

Determining BOD values is a simplified 5-step process with VELP Scientifica's innovative systems. Leveraging the respirometric technique, this system ensures consistent, accurate results in five easy-to-follow steps:

1. Insert the magnetic stir bar into the dark glass bottle, add the sample, and put the CO2 trap filled with required reagents in place

2. Initiate the incubation process

3. Attach the sensor to the setup

4. Monitor microbial activity

5. Retrieve the BOD value (ppm or mg / l), which is based on the pressure variance within the bottle due to microbial activity

BOD Sensor is an extremely reliable innovative solution for the determination of BOD, without the us (more)e of mercury. Easy to use, fast and simple. It screws directly onto the bottle containing the sample and a pressure transducer microprocessor transfers the BOD value directly to the display (in mg / l) and automatically stored in the BOD sensor (5 measurements at 24 hour intervals, offering the possibility of making the analysis even during the weekend). The BOD value can also be obtained directly from the display at any time, even after five days. Measurement is available on 4 different scales - 90ppm, 250, 600 and 999 BOD. For higher values, the measurement can be measured by diluting the sample. The BOD Sensor System 6 is a complete package for analyzing 6 samples simultaneously, consisting of a 6-position stirring base, BOD sensors, dark glass bottles, carbon dioxide absorption caps and magnetic stir bars. The BOD Sensor System 10 is a complete package for analyzing 10 samples simultaneously, consisting of a 10-position stirring base, BOD sensors, dark glass bottles, carbon dioxide absorption undercaps and magnetic stir bars. The stirring base has been designed to meet the user's needs, it is comfortable, guarantees a high quality stirring and the small footprint allows to accommodate up to 5 bases of 6 positions (30 samples) or 3 of 10 positions ( 30 samples) in a VELP incubator (FOC 200E). Determine the BOD value in 5 steps! To better analyze the BOD values with the innovative VELP Scientifica systems, based on the respirometric technique, capable of providing highly reliable results, just 5 easy and simple steps are enough: 1. Add the magnetic stir bar to the dark glass bottle, add the sample and place the CO2 trap filled with the necessary reagents 2. Incubate everything 3. Screw in the sensor 4. Monitor the activity of microorganisms 5. Read the BOD value (ppm or mg / l), based on the change in pressure inside the bottle due to the activity of microorganisms Technical features: Sensor display: 3-digit LED display Bod measurement: mg/l (ppm) directly on the display BOD scales: 90, 250, 600, 999, 4000 ppm, Higher values after dilution Bottle volumes:  500 ml Data storage: BOD values at 24h intervals Sensor construction material: Technopolymer Power: BOD Sensor System 6 2 W; BOD Sensor System 10 2 W Sensor battery type: CR 2430 Power supply: BOD Sensor System 6 Sensors: 2x3V lithium batteries Stirring Station: 230V / 50-60Hz or 115V / 60Hz BOD Sensor System 10 Sensors: 2x3V lithium batteries Stirring Station: 230V / 50-60Hz or 115V / 60Hz
