Atomic force microscopes

Atomic force microscopes use a probe to 'scan' and measure the force feedback along the surface. This can be used to study surface interactions or to create a topographical map with sub-nanometer resolution. It can also be used for precise manipulation of a sample, for example to locally probe a biological cell to induce a response.
