What makes the new KKS ICH rooms special?
To ensure full compliance with the ICH Q1B guidelines, these climatic chambers are equipped with two specially designed lighting systems, one with UVA light and one with VIS light, made of high-quality components (Osram, Philips). VIS light offers excellent quality, close to natural conditions (CRI > 90, 6500 K), while the maximum efficiency of the lighting systems allows photostability tests to be performed in the shortest possible time, without compromising the accuracy and reliability of the results.

This module uses high-quality LEDs with 6500 K color temperature and > 90 CRI, parameters that ensure stable, uniform and reliable visible light during testing. A high CRI indicates that the light spectrum is complete and well balanced, therefore very close to natural light. This ensures reproducible lighting conditions that comply with ICH Q1B standards, without unwanted variations in the spectrum that could affect the results.

It is a lighting system that uses UVA lamps, which are designed to emit ultraviolet radiation at specific wavelengths. These lamps simulate exposure to UV rays, which is essential for testing photostability and evaluating any degradation of materials or active substances.

chambers are used in laboratories that perform activities such as:

1. **Photostability tests on drugs, cosmetics and active substances.**These tests aim to verify whether an active ingredient or a finished product changes its properties when exposed to visible or ultraviolet light. The ICH Q1B guideline prescribes that these exposures are an integral part of the stress testing of new drugs. The tests can cover from the naked sample to the product in the packaging to the promotional pack.
2. **Analysis of the durability of the product under light exposure.**In cases where materials, formulations or packaging are sensitive to light (UV or visible), accelerated conditions are simulated to assess chemical degradation, cosmetic changes or loss of efficacy.
3. **Validation of storage instructions and packaging in light conditions.**It is essential that the packaging and instructions for use consider the effect of light: if light exposure can degrade the product, the packaging must be designed to protect it and the instructions must indicate any precautions (e.g. "store away from light"). Specific tests make it possible to verify that the product stored in the declared conditions (including the degree of protection of the packaging) is not altered.
