Standard features of the OHAUS Scout scale include a transport lock, stainless steel weighing pan, adjustable non-slip feet, bubble level, software and mechanical overload/underload protection, stability indicator, automatic tare, low battery indicator, auto power off, and user-selectable printing and communication settings.

Beyond basic weighing, the scale also supports piece counting, percent weighing, check weighing, dynamic weighing, totalization, density determination, display hold, and mole weighing.

The 4.3' (109 mm) touchscreen display offers user-controllable brightness and a color VGA graphic resolution. Devices can be operated using a power supply (adapter provided) or batteries, with a low battery indicator and programmable automatic shutdown as standard features.

Construction elements comprise an ABS housing, stainless steel pan, ABS draft shield (for 1 mg models only), weigh below hook, transport lock, manual calibration lock switch, illuminated front level indicator, and stabilizing feet. Additional features include a stackable design with included storage cover (excluding 1mg models), mechanical/software overload protection, battery life indicator, auto power off, auto tare, and a calibration weight for models with a capacity exceeding 620 g.
