Product Description
The Linkam BTL Lyostat 3 freeze-drying microscope system is designed for real-time observation and characterization of freeze-drying processes. It combines controlled temperature and vacuum conditions with optical imaging for research in biopharmaceutical development, formulation science, molecular biology, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Working temperature range: -196 °C to +350 °C
- Controlled heating and cooling rates
- Programmable temperature profiles with multiple ramping and holding steps
- High-purity silver heating and cooling block for efficient thermal conductivity
- 100 ohm platinum resistor sensor, DIN Class A, with control accuracy to 0.1 °C
- Vacuum-tight sample chamber capable of reaching 10⁻³ mbar
- Direct chamber-vacuum measurement port
- Optional vacuum control module
- Automatic twin-pump liquid nitrogen cooling system with a 2 L Dewar and insulated flexible tubing
- Direct coolant injection into the silver block
The imaging station includes a flip-top head for convenient sample loading, a polarizing lens with analyzer, long-working-distance condenser, and Köhler illumination. The listed microscope configuration includes:

The system includes a LinkPad controller, Linkam LNP95, and Linkam T95-PE. Software provides live display of temperature, stage pressure, and active ramp information through an RS232 serial connection. Temperature and pressure plots can be viewed, saved, and exported to third-party applications such as Excel. Multi-step temperature profiles can be created using an on-screen data table, while firmware can be upgraded through USB.
